Talented youths international work to build upon the momentum developed in a previous this HIV/AIDS project entitled HIV/AIDS has taking our love once. The fundamental purpose of this Category I initiative is to develop an integrated health awareness skills development system within Benin city, Edo state, Nigeria, that will position the organization to develop a community awareness program on the epidemic of HIV/AIDS and to organized a training strategies on how the youths can prevent themselves, also we are organized a short and long term internship program on Information technology that link education and training to work, enhance individuals’ skills, and facilitate youths access to incomes through formal sector jobs, small and micro businesses, and community project. This project has been taking much of our time, and it has been a problem also to us. Because of lack of funds to carry on the necessary campaign and to provide available materials to make this project a success.
We have another project coming up in April 2006, and we really need funds to help us join the rest of the world on Global youth service day, there are already program arranged for that day, but we need funds. We are also having a project on Information Technology, which will begins 1st May 2006 this is to enable us get some of the youths in our community out of the street, and to reduce the level of crime in our community.
We already got some computers donated to Talented Youths International and IT teachers that are willing to give out their services free of charge to these youths as a means of help the community and also helping the government. The problem we have at hand is to get more computers and to pay for the acquired accommodation where this internship program will be situated.
The percentage of youths that are unemployed right now in my community is very high, this is because they are IT illiterates and most of this youth needs to be empowered with the ideal of information technology, so that they can compete with other youths, so they can get jobs for themselves, with this they can set up meaning business and will be able to get jobs easily.
We find out that acquiring the knowledge of Information technology is very expensive here in Nigeria. This is the reason we have pick up the challenges to help the youths to acquire this skills free of charge for them to make a better living for themselves.
There is a set target for this project, and that is this year. We have decided to be training forty youths for the period of three months; this short term internship program is to train them on the bases of information technology. At the end of this internship program, there shall be a certificate awarded to these youths. The second quarter of the internship program shall begins November 2006, by this time we hope to increase the numbers of youths.
Under this internship program we shall also be taking these youths through series of program on HIV/AIDS so that they can also help in campaigning and teaching other youths and adults in other communities about the epidemics of HIV/AIDS whenever we have programs.
We have come to realized that there is still no vaccine to the prevention of HIV/AIDS,.AIDS is still claming lives, I strongly believe there are still major set to prevent this dare devil disease. Talented Youths International is youths led organization that have the will power, and is motivated by intelligent and exposed youths of different specialization and careers. So many youths, villages and communities are yet to be aware of HIV/AIDS syndrome; as such they are still engaging in so many activities that still leading to the spread of the disease.
